He is narrow and has a very high wither that runs a long way into his back. I tried many brands of saddle and had a couple of saddle fittings, however no-one had a option that cleared his long wither.   After sending you his measurements and photographs, I didn't really think you could build something that would satisfy all my criteria for both horse and rider.  After all a tracing and a few pictures to a saddle maker on another continent? Hi Matt, Just wanted to let you know that the Yin-Yang MKII (LS) made to measure jumping saddle is everything that you promised it would be.  After seven years of trying to find a saddle that would fit both my beloved horse - Punch and myself, I will admit I was sceptical.  I had been told so often by saddlers that it was asking the impossible due to my length of leg, I am six foot tall and my horses big shoulders and extremely-wide withers. I must have tried every make of saddle you can think of, even made to measure saddles which fitted Punch, but were too straight cut to be comfortable and safe for me. I had nowhere for my long legs to go so my knees stuck over the knee rolls, or over the edge of the saddle.  Not good on a horse as sharp as mine! However,  at last we have the perfect saddle.  What a fantastic idea the Yin-Yang saddle is - the ideal solution!  Already Punch is happier being saddled up and he strides out confidently while I at last have a comfortable ride.  I have a lovely soft seat AND room for my very long legs!  I am also so much more confident  as I have knee rolls where they should be! We are off for a good gallop along the beach next week - with one of my friends -yippee!! I just wish I had known of you sooner.  I would have saved myself a fortune in saddles that didn't fit, despite being told that they did! I may also have saved myself a good few falls due to lack of knee rolls!  Still they do say that all good things come to those who wait!!  I would recommend this saddle to anyone who has problems finding a saddle to fit.   It really does do what it promises and costs no more than other quality saddles.  It really does fit both horse AND rider, because that is what it is designed to do.  Other saddles may claim to be made-to-measure, but as I have discovered the basic saddle size and shape remains the same.  After years in uncomfortable saddles I feel jusified in saying that the rider's comfort and safety are also important.  In the past I have always had to sacrifice that- but thankfully no longer!  Hello Matthew, The saddle came yesterday, I wasn't expecting it until next week!  Spent 10 mins sniffing the leather, beautiful English leather, I see the lack thereof working in an English tack shop here!!!

The saddle is awesome!!!!!  Put it on Pollie and it fit like a glove, my son and I are so excited about this saddle.  And because it fits so well it is of course it feels wonderful to ride in.  Can't seem to get that through to peeps over here.  Pollie likes it too, she didn't feel cold backed as with the other saddles we have ridden her in.  I can't believe we got the fit spot on, all I can say is you must have an excellent eye.  I was worried I would get the tracing a bit off and it wouldn't fit!! 

James declared it was as good if not better than a friend's Devoucoux he rode in, certainly better than the Stubben monoflap, and as good as our regular flap Black Country. 

And of course everything is British!  I am on a proud to be British trip this week, with Team GBR getting their first medals in dressage.

Thank you so much for making me such a lovely saddle. No-where else could possibly have offered such a degree of flexibility with design. The quality of the leather is outstanding - as soon as I opened the box I could smell that lovely scent that only really good leather has. Even although I bought this remotely from you and did the measurements myself it fits better than anything I've bought from a saddler face to face before. The 'large shoulder' design that I went for is brilliant. My Horse feels a lot more free in his movement particularly faster work going downhill whereas before he would back off. I will not hesistate to come to you again for saddlery and will definately recommend you to friends.

I have been recommending you to friends so hopefully you may get some enquires from them. I just wondered if it would be possible to make me a matching girth and if so the cost? I would need a 56" and was thinking mainly Black, all black on the side touching the horse and black with a pink panel in between on the other side, is this possible?

Hi Matt,

Saddle fabulous to ride in but would I expect any different following the one we already have from you? This one fits my young horse so well and he fairly tested it this weekend spooking and jumping sideways in the wind and the ghouls in the hedges but it held me brilliantly. My centre of gravity seems to have improved so much in this saddle, I no longer perch on top as in my old one yet the cut still shows off the horse’s shoulder etc and does not impede movement at all. If there is anyone out there hesitating about buying from Matt – don’t. Go for it and you will be as pleased as we have been. We now have two heritage saddles bought new and if we change horses will not look anywhere else if we have to buy different saddles. Leather, finish and fit are top class. 

Thanks Matt – I will need to invest in a longer girth I think but waiting until the flocking settles a little and it may sit that little bit lower which will make all the difference. Plus as the girth straps soften these will give and the existing girth may well be OK.

Sorry for not replying earlier - I recieved the saddle on the thursday of the week posted, and had an opportunity to ride only 3 times in it before horse went lame; I put off contacting you as whilst the saddle seemed to fit really well, I wanted to check it wasn't back related pain and in any way linked to the fit of the saddle as obviously I would then need your thoughts on fit etc to try and find the problem. Thankfully the physio checked him over and said his back was lovely - so no panic needed over the saddle at least (not that I expected an issue as all looked well, but it was too closely linked timewise to not check out and be cautious!).
As it happened the saddle still hasn't had much use as in the end horse had to go down to yorkshire for vets (it turns out he's damaged a ligament around the fetlock, which is now on the mend). However I love it, and so far so good with the fit for Lance too, thank you! 

The short times he's worn it so far his movement has been lovely and free, and his shoulder hasn't been blocked by the forwardness of the flap thanks to your clever design. One of times before he went lame, we did some jumping, and it seemed to be ideally balanced for both of us.
Thanks again, and hopefully things will continue as positively saddle-wise once he's all fixed up again!

I would just like to say a 'BIG' thankyou, for my made to measure working
hunter saddle.
It fits like a glove.   We swept the bord on our first outing of the
season and the saddle didnt move an inch, it feels like its been a part of us for a long time
the leather is that soft.

Hi Matt, just to let you know how pleased I am with Miroh's new saddle! I
finally had the bandage off my leg on Thursday and took Miroh out for the
1st time in 4 weeks on Sunday. We were out for about 3 hours and covered
14 road miles. He wasn't remotely tired (which he would have been in the
old saddle after about 6 miles), little legs were still going like pistons
at the end of it. We are planning to do a long distance ride of 22 miles
over some very rough terrain in a fortnight, I hope we are both a bit

Hi Matt-

I got my saddle and the matching tack in the mail 2 days ago and have been able to ride it twice now, it is awesome and I am loving it.

The bonus is that it not only fits 3 of my horses incredibly well but I finally have a saddle that I too feel real comfortable in no matter what I am doing !

 

It is very refreshing to be free enough in the saddle to move about when I need to - yet it is very secure over the large obstacles.

Security without confinement is a hard thing to find in a saddle and you have made it so ,which is a deep testament to the superior craftsmanship of your company.

The leather is very fine quality and I was impressed with the attention to EVERY detail incuding the xtra fine softness of the seat and the padded stirrup bar flaps are so soft that I cannot even feel a slight bulge under my thigh.

The seat is wide and I feel like I could endurance ride in this and not be sore in the morning,it felt "broke in" the moment I sat down in it. 

By looks alone it is a cut above and gives the appearance of a saddle that you would expect to pay £3500.00 for in todays market , it is stunning and gives a very eye appealing sharp appearance.

but it not only looks good- it rides incredible- and in my opinion is better put together than some of the $3500.00 saddles.

My only regret is that it took me better than 20 years to find you and your company!

 

I could have saved a ton of money in hindsight - while I spent years trying this saddle and that one trying to find the perfect one.

You can sure bet - that when I need another one - or any other tack - I will reach for your number first!

 

The matching tack is well complemented to the saddle and easily shows the upper end quality- and looks great on my horse! 

I gave you a very artistic task when I asked you to make the saddle - and I am impressed! Everything is classic- and unique without being gaudy or over the top. 

It has been a pleasure to work with you and thank you for putting up with my  picky requests, I know I asked you for some intricate details and you never said "No, I can't do that."  

 

And though once you had started on my saddle - I could not wait to see it and it seemed like a long time coming. The wait which was actually very reasonable for such a customized job-  and the shipment was lightning quick to the states!  

 

I would highly recommend you to anyone looking for that perfect saddle that will fit them and their horse, at half the cost or less of an off the shelf saddle.

It is well worth the investment, and I will be back!

 

It is very hard nowadays to find a company that truly cares about what they make and the clients that they make their product for so from now on I will trust you implicitly when it comes to tack!

Just thought I'd let you know that I've finally managed to get back onboard and riding again after receiving my M2M dressage saddle back in December.

 

I have to say I am just delighted with it !  It was a super fit on Toby when I tried it on, but I was waiting till I'd had a chance to ride in it and what can I say it is just perfect for him and me.  The knee blocks are just ideal and the saddle is so comfy.

I now have two of Matt's saddles, and the leather and workmanship in these is second to none! Everyone who sits in my saddles, loves them.They feel broken in, even before their first ride, because the leather is of such high quality.   We don't have the Albion  brand here in Australia, however i think these saddles are better than what we can readily access in Australia, such as Bates and County.  I had a County prior to this, and my Heritage saddle has much softer leather, and fits my pony much better.  One of my sadddles is a custom fit, and is exactly what i needed for this galloway.
Matt is also pretty good on the communication front, and will try his uptmost to meet your requirements. Shipping was also prompt and reasonably priced!

 I am sure you will have made the right choice, in choosing a Heritage Saddle.
